Famed for its distinctive range of downtown jersey separates, LA clothing brand American Apparel looks set to take over beauty cupboards as well as wardrobes with its latest launch - a retro-look collection of nail polishes. Mirroring the company's keep-it-local philosophy, the 18 shades are inspired by all things American Apparel - from the manufactory floors (the storm-in-a-bottle Factory Grey), to accounting department notepads (a fresh minty green colour called Office). The turquoise-blue Peacock and ballerina-pink Rose Bowl shades are proving popular sellers and will make excellent complements to spring's strong, candy-coloured looks. £5 each, available from and at American Apparel stores nationwide.
